Maastricht based graphic designer /art director Boy Bastiaens creates identities on a variety of national and international projects.
“In the mid-1990s, I had the chance to develop the concept for a chain of ice cream and chocolate stores - from logo to packaging to the interior blueprint design. With only the name set and a blank canvas, I started building a visual language through imagery, type and packaging that broke away from the obvious clichés. While working on the project I didn’t even know the term 'branding', as this specific kind of design used to be the exclusive domain of agencies that have separate divisions of design and marketing”. - Conversation with Boy Bastiaens p.120 Design Genius: The Ways and Workings of Creative Thinkers, Gavin Ambrose & Paul Harris, Bloomsbury Publishing 2014 -
